My name is Lauren Marchell and I've owned Dachshunds for over 11 years now.
I fell in love with the breed growing up with longhairs as a child.
We had 2 black and tan longhairs, Kassie and Emma.
They are both no longer with us but have left our whole family with many great memories and love for the breed.
When I was a teenager I purchased my first Dachshund, Charlie.
He meant everything to me and officially started my love for the breed!
Charlie by no means was a show quality dachshund but at that time showing was of no interest of mine.
I started going to local shows in 2008 to watch Dachshunds compete in conformation and I was hooked!
I started out co-owning my first show dog in 2009, Chance a cream male who was handled by his breeder and finished
very quickly. I did not realize how hard it would be to find nice dogs after that. I had purchased many show quality
puppies that did not turn out good for show and had to be spayed or neutered and either stayed here with me or
went to retired pet homes.
In 2009 I purchased my first black and tan dapple female Camie.
She went to only a few shows (about 4) but never received any wins. Camie didn't have the best head for a
dachshund but she had some good things about her that made me keep her as a potential producer.
In 2010 I was introduced to new dachshund breeders, who ended up being my mentors and great friends.
I was finally on the right track.
I purchased my first black and tan female, Callie, that at her very first show she went reserve and the next day won
her puppy class, went winners bitch and then went best of opposite sex! What a confidence booster!
In 2011---After a lot of, thought, research, and help from my mentors we found a wonderful stud to use with Camie
in hopes to produce my first show potential litter in 2012. I was able to keep pick of the litter...
"Doc" my chocolate and tan male.
2013 Castleway's Doc Holliday ML did most of his winnings while under 18 months and entered in puppy and bred by
classes only. He is personality plus and we are really excited to see how he produces.
He has been reserve at many specialty shows and is going to be a great foundation stud here at Castleway!
Newly added our beautiful Evie- JT'S Winters Eve at Castleway MLD
She is a longhair black and tan dapple female.
We are excited to watch her grow and watch for her in the show ring in summer 2014.
I want to thank everyone who has helped us get to where we are now!
